Since CARE opened four years ago, the hospital and its staff have developed at a rate that have been difficult to keep up with. As part of this ongoing evolution, we are very pleased to introduce two new specialists that have joined the centre.
Dr Sarah Haldane has recently joined the emergency and critical care team to contribute to the maintenance and development of clinical standards. Her role is primarily focused on the continued education of the ICU team, support and direction in the management of critical or challenging cases and the establishment and maintenance of contemporary clinical protocols. In the short time she has been with us, she has already had a significant influence and we are looking forward to the ongoing benefits of her involvement on urgent and critical patient care.
After a long term at the University of Melbourne, Dr Sam Long will be offering a specialist neurology service at CARE beginning on 15 May. The neurology department will extend on the existing neurology services provided by the medicine and surgery departments; addressing complex brain and spinal conditions, peripheral nerve disease and electrodiagnostics as well as advanced imaging of the nervous system. MRI services will initially be performed externally, until an on-site machine can be installed, and will be complemented by our new Siemens 16-slice CT scanner.
Brief biographies for both Sarah and Sam are included in the staff profiles on our website. If you have any questions about these or any other of the specialist services at CARE, please do not hesitate to contact the hospital on (03) 9417 6417.
