Dr Sam Long BVSc PhD DipECVN, European Specialist in Veterinary Neurology, has recently joined CARE as our new specialist Neurologist.
After graduating from the University of Melbourne, Sam underwent his residency specialist training at the University of Glasgow, which was followed by a PhD in canine cancer research.
In 2005 he moved to Philadelphia to take up the position of Head of the Neurology Service at the University of Pennsylvania’s Veterinary School. He returned to Australia in 2008 to establish Melbourne University Veterinary Hospital’s neurology service, before moving to join CARE.
He has an active research interest in several research fields, including epilepsy, brain tumours, and spinal cord trauma and is the author of more than 30 refereed journal articles and 4 book chapters. He also has adjunct research appointments at St Vincent’s Hospital and the Bionics Institute.
